All but none is invited

If you are in Nigeria, I’m on the assumption that there’s a high chance that you must have come across an advert in the newspaper or on television about an event that’s strictly by invitation.

One question that always pops up in my head everything I see those kind of advert is: what exactly is the point of this?

For a fact that the event is “strictly by invitation” is proof that you must have invited everyone that is expected at the event.

Despite working in the media industry and knowing that advertising is a major source of revenue for the industry, I still don’t see the need to advertise a strictly-by-invite event.

On another note and having been involved in planning events made me realise the reason why such events are still advertised in papers or on TV: sponsors.

This still doesn’t stop me from questioning the motive behind it though 🤷🏿‍♂️

Just so you know, this post was drafted six years ago. I just made a few edits before pushing it out. The plan was to publish an important letter today before but it’s ready yet.
