Is it really Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

It’s day 5. We are getting there.

After taking delivery of a pair of sneakers last year, I said I was going to get another pair of the same sneakers.

Beam, a former colleague and a very good friend, asked why I wanted to get another pair. I told her that I liked it and would like to have more than a pair.

I then revealed that I actually have two pairs of another type of sneakers: the same colour and design.

After shaking her head, she jokingly said I have obsessive compulsive disorder (OBD). I looked it up and it didn’t sound like me.

It’s just simple, if I liked something after the first purchase, there’s a high chance that I’m getting the same thing again, and probably and again.

Of course, this is applicable to fashion items. I have only two suits and interestly, they are the same colour except that one is a ‘regular suit’ while the other is a tux.

I just hope the next one won’t be blue as well because I don’t wear black. No sentiment, I just don’t like wearing black.

I got inked last year and before leaving the tattoo palace, I was already considering getting another. Tope, who got inked the same day, also considered getting another one.

Maybe we all have OBD after all, not just the one that require medications 😉.

We have our favourite drinks, fast food restaurants, snacks, device brands among others, and we usually don’t want another type other than our that our favorite. Maybe that’s not an appropriate analogy. Lemme know what you think.

A little about the day. It is one of those days. I wasn’t productive as I was battling with headache and I intended going to the hospital after work but got home around 8pm.

So tomorrow it is. I’ve been postponing visiting the hospital for a couple of days now. Yes, I know it’s bad.

Till tomorrow.

Special shoutout to Titilola, Tope, Femi (OBO) and Victor. I can say they are the reason for this streak on my blog, considering that it’s just about my boring self.

  1. Like Tope said, most likely not OCD. The tattoo feeling is backed by science: once you get one, you go back for more. There’s a dopamine thing happening there, Google it sha.

    Sorry about the headaches. Optimise.

  2. First things first. You’re not boring.

Second, I doubt that’s OCD, you just like having more than one of the exact same thing. Weird but not an obsessive!

The accolades, I mean…it keeps me coming back for more.
