It’s day nine and this is about my love for sightseeing.
I’m an introvert and boring but whenever I’m in a new place, I try as much as possible to go sightseeing.
I spent some time in Kaduna back in 2016 and throughout my stay, I jumped on every opportunity to see the city. And sometimes, I just go around myself: trekking and jumping bikes. I also tried a couple of different restaurants 😉.
I’m not just the type that would visit a new place and decide to stay indoor. Last year, the Techpoint team was in Ghana for a company retreat.
After checking into our AirBnB apartment, a couple of guys stepped out and the first thing I bought was kenkey, a delicacy of Ghanaian origin.
So I eat kenkey regularly back in Nigeria. For me, it’s only right that I tried it there and it was awesome, and better than the ones I do eat in Nigeria.
We went out a couple of time as a team, having fun.
Fast forward to later in the year, I was in East Africa with Adewale. Our first call was Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our stay in this beautiful city was packed with meetings and just a few breaks in between.
During those breaks, I would walked around the city with Google map as the guide. There was also a day I went out with a friend from the hotel when we eat roasted corn.
I also tried Tej, an Ethiopian local alcohol made from honey. There’s a story attached to tej but that is today.
Even after my phone was swiped on the street of Addis, I still went sightseeing. Well, losing my phone wasn’t enough to hold me down 😜.
From Ethiopia to Nairobi, Kenya. It was a busy schedule as well but I went sightseeing once: visited the central business district. There I bought bottles of perfume oil.
I got lost on the way back to our lodge. Apparently, the bike man took me somewhere else and I don’t have a phone. I was going to somewhere around Kenyatta Hospital I think but he took me to one medical institute instead.
After about 10 minutes of riding around, we located the hospital which is just beside our lodge.
It appears my love for sightseeing is not limited to outside Lagos. During my seven days stay at the beach last year, there are days where I would just walk around the shores, as far as kilometers aways from my mat.
The worst about my sightseeing experience is that I hardly have proof as I don’t take pictures.
A couple of days ago, I shared on my whatsapp status how I briefly showed up at the Social Media Week Lagos but had no proof because I didn’t take any picture🤦♂️.
The only thing close to a proof was that I had a couple of business cards.
I take good pictures with my phone by the way. And the best set of pictures I think I have ever taken with my phone would remain the ones I took at the beach during my leave.
Just so you know, they are pictures of the water body and the sun.

Just look at that, come on! Look at the beautiful peace.
So far, Addis Ababa would remain the best sightseeing experience for me, for now. One peculiar feature of Addis is the number of high-rise buildings — breathtaking.
Do you like sightseeing? I’d to know your best experience 😉.
Till tomorrow.
Since I’m easily spooked, I prefer to stay in spaces I feel are space, that means staying locked up in my hotel room. You should try it sometime 😁
Swiped phone? In fact that’s the end of the trip for me!
When I resume world travel, I think I’ll try to explore more.
I just realized I’ve been to so many places without actually going round. I am boring!

I just can’t do it. I can’t go to a new place and not jump on every opportunity to explore and do some sightseeing
