About getting a life

One thing I keep failing at in the past 8 to 9 years is not maintaining a work-life balance.

Back then, I used to work with someone that would legit call me in the middle of the night for an assignment and I would have it delivered before dawn.

Then I got to the point when I would leave work by 6pm, get home and fire up my laptop to take care of some work.

Yes, it is not a peculiar case. Some of us have been there while some, still there. I have friends, not much by the way, as well as colleagues who don’t seem to have a solid work-life balance.

I really want to do better.

Interestingly, getting a life outside of work was on the list I made during the last knowledge sharing session at the office. I should even share some of the items on the list.

It’s good to talk about maintaining a work-life balance but the truth is do I really have any life outside work? 🤦‍♂️

Outside of work, my social life doesn’t go beyond attending wedding parties and probably drinking with myself at home.

Are you also trying to get a life? Let’s see how we can work together.

I really need to get a life. A voice in my head is asking me, “really?”

Since the last quarter of last year, I’ve been taking myself out at least once a month. I’m terrible at socialising and picky in terms of social gathering I attend.

Throughout last year, I only attended one social gathering that I didn’t know anyone there and I came back without having an extra contact on my phone 🤫.

But then I only attended this particular event to listen to spoken words.
